imaginary numbers

an imaginary number is one that when squared gives a negative result. The imaginary unit is written as the letter i. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide complex numbers.

Important to know! i2 = -1. Example: 4i2 - 5i - 2i = 4(-1) - 5i - 2i = -4 - 7i
